    What will manufacturing look like in 2050?

    Technology is advancing at a rapid rate, so by 2050 the industry could look vastly different. If that seems like a long ways away, remember that now to 2050 is as far away as 1988 to now! Advanced Manufacturing said, "It’s a safe bet that by 2050 the average machine tool will be fully automated and more capable. Multitasking will be common, perhaps nearly universal. The trend is well established." However, despite all these changes experts still say some things will stay consistent. Scott Walker said, “We’ve been tweaking manufacturing since the 1780s. The next 30 years will be more tweaking, unless we come up with something truly revolutionary.”
