Founded in 2008, Silencerco began in a garage and quickly grew to produce more silencers than anyone else in the market. With a deep care for product quality, customers, and employees, the organization is rooted in a continuous improvement mindset.
This led them to MachineMetrics, with which SilencerCo was able to realize remarkable improvements in both the efficiency and profitability of their production.
Originally, SilencerCo started their implementation with the goal to capture real-time manufacturing data for their business systems in an effort to improve decision making and set realistic benchmarks for future improvement.
But after collecting and using the accurate production data provided by MachineMetrics, they discovered additional problems to solve.
SilencerCo’s team knew that ideal performance numbers were not being hit, but they did not know how far off they were, or why it was happening.
The team needed their operators focused on producing quality parts while giving management the data needed to analyze, adjust processes, and problem solve in real-time.
Identifying current benchmarks and pinpointing the machines that offered the largest opportunity for utilization increases could yield significant improvements.
“我们需要这台机器车间看到他们满足rics and understand their impact on the company’s health.”
Doing away with “patchworked spreadsheets,” the SilencerCo team rolled out MachineMetrics to autonomously collect production data, immediately allowing them to establish benchmarks and see OEE in real-time.
With 42 workcenters monitored, tablets at every machine, and five shop-floor dashboards, visibility across the organization increased dramatically.
The information provided the opportunity to diagnose problems, ask questions, and roll out adjustments to increase efficiency. Not only did this significantly improve performance KPIs, but it also fundamentally changed the nature of communication across different departments, allowing teams to work together to solve problems, rather than finger-pointing.
“The data doesn’t lie; it tells us what’s really happening, whether it’s using the real-time dashboards or the historical reporting.”
